Partnerships

Ecosystem partnership is bigger than a sales channel

Partnerschaften sind mehr als ein Vertriebskanal

Twenty years spent on the partner side of go-to-market: technology alliances, consulting relationships, service-provider ecosystems and boutique agencies. The partner type changes; the discipline doesn't.

I think about partnerships in four parts: finding the right doors, enabling partners properly once they're through them, removing friction with automation and lifecycle systems, and building the kind of trust that makes a relationship durable rather than transactional. That discipline has played out across very different partner ecosystems:

Global technology alliances

At Hootsuite, I managed relationships with Adobe, Microsoft, Meltwater, Brandwatch, Talkwalker, Proofpoint and AWS, and built the Professional Services Partner Program that gave implementation partners a structured path to certified delivery.

Enterprise and consulting alliances

At Noggin, I built the alliance with Deloitte from the ground up — workshops, joint opportunities, bid responses and framework integration — alongside a co-marketing relationship with AWS supporting the platform's exclusive hosting arrangement.

Service-provider and MSP ecosystems

At GoTo and KeepItSafe, I built MSP and VAR programs from scratch, including launching the Veeam Cloud Connect Service Provider business in ANZ and the MSP program for GoTo Resolve — commercial structure, onboarding and enablement, aimed at partners building recurring-revenue services.

Boutique agencies

At ActiveCampaign today, I work with marketing agencies across APAC, helping them productise services and adopt automation so growth doesn't depend on adding headcount.

Market entry & GTM for international companies

Outside my corporate role, I've helped international startups and SaaS companies enter the ANZ and APAC market the way I did it myself — relocating from Europe to Sydney and building a business and network from zero. That work spans go-to-market strategy and relationship-led market entry, with deep experience in Singapore as an APAC hub, and has included go-to-market work with SaaS companies forming partnerships with the likes of Hootsuite and ActiveCampaign. It's also the subject of my book, LinkedIn for Startups.

What ties these together isn't the size or type of partner — it's building an ecosystem where the partner's success and the platform's success are the same outcome, and where the relationship holds up under pressure because the systems behind it are solid.

"You have a great presence and hold authority while still being available to the audience in an authentic way."

Building or scaling a partner program?

Sie bauen ein Partnerprogramm auf?

Whether that's a handful of strategic alliances or a broad channel of agencies and MSPs — I'd welcome the conversation.
